BOLLYWOOD : COULD? SHOULD? WOULD?

Could Bollywood do it? Yes!

Should Bollywood do it? Absolutely!

Would Bollywood do it? Umm...

Bollywood could do what it should be doing, but it doesn't seem like it would, at least for now.

The 20th century and early 21st century charm of Bollywood hits different, and to state the

obvious, it’s unfathomable today. From Sholay to Hum Aapke Hain Koun! and from Jab We Met

to Dil Chahta Hai, no amount of remakes or OTTs could amount up to the thrill of families and

friends sitting together to focus only on the film.

I personally believe that currently, Bollywood is undergoing that downfall that is inevitably

followed by a blockbuster decade. “Nepotism” – the biggest obstacle to Bollywood’s success

streak. I agree, not all those starkids are meant to be on screen, and yet when they show up for

the sake of legacy and monopoly, it does mar the film. But using the ideology every now and

then, and not appreciating a film just because it stars a “nepo kid”, is beyond wrong.

And even with reused stories and remade songs, it's time to wait and watch, because

Bollywood is forever in its “Picture abhi baaki hai, mere dost” mode.
