Tracing December
Saanvi Tripathi-FYBA
The tapestry of community, joy and newfound memories that the holidays weave prove to be a dream, far reaching for many. Those on less than desired terms with their loved ones often find these days to be
difficult; not just due to the physical distance but the emotional isolation they find themselves in. To try to be welcoming of people in such distress is understood, but if we find ourselves to be in a similar situation where, maybe all feels bleak? To sit with the feeling, and take little steps for ourselves—cook a loved meal,
put on some music, read that long procrastinated book or simply write our feelings down—anything that
provides a change, becomes our peace. For then, the ‘pause’ will be a pause from the negativity, ‘time’ will
have stopped for just us and the ‘togetherness’ can be of maybe our few friends, of our pets, and even just
our own conscious being. In this way, the tapestry becomes inclusive of realities untalked of, but beautiful
and real in their own little ways.
