The stellar opinion of the internet was starkly divided on hearing the news of the passing of the Queen on September 8th. The controversy birthed complex and conflicting arguments regarding the status of respect the Queen deserves, or the lack of it. On one hand, people commended Queen Elizabeth's character and legacy; on the other, no amount of courage can compensate for the lack of compassion and years and tidal waves of loss of lives, culture, identity and more. Birthed by multiple memes, the “Kohinoor Kontroversy” is a topic of much passion to Indians and their culture. The infamous diamond is an epitome of excellence and luxury, but more importantly a not so subtle symbol of the wealth and culture India as a nation had seen expedited during the imperial reign in India.
