EWS- A Change in the Indian Political System

The EWS reservation verdict issued by the Supreme Court
falls under one of the most awaited verdicts in the history of India. The
balanced players of politics find this to be a good initiative by the
government, which goes back to the idea that Dr Ambedkar had suggested years
ago. India could be the only country in this world with thousands of castes and
countless subcastes, which play a significant role in the socio-economic and
cultural development of Indian society. The caste-wise reservation system has
helped in our country’s growth and progress for the past 75 years by uplifting
the unprivileged section of society to the mainstream, especially in the
education system. But in contrast, our reservation system has already covered
49% and the Supreme Court verdict is that the total reservations cannot go
beyond 50%. Hence, the 10% EWS reservation will reduce the other slabs. This
may or may not sound appreciable to different sections of society enjoying the
reservation schemes, but whatever the scenario is, the government should adhere
to the greater good of society!
